The Divide Music Coalition is a group of parents, community partners and teachers with the desire to enhance music education programs in our local Black Oak Mine Unified School District.
The coalition was formed in 2016. In 2017, the El Dorado Arts Council took on sponsorship of our project; under their sponsorship, we have extended our outreach to national organizations and have written grants to procure donations for our music programs.
Our goal for 2017-18 is to raise $25,000 which will be used to purchase new musical instruments, refurbish used instruments in our district collection, purchase music and supplies, sponsor students to musical competitions and for training for staff.
